Welcome This is the first article of the series: Graduation Project: Summary of 3 years of experience. The idea of documenting the most noticed experiences have been gained through the past three years of supervising, working, and co-operating with graduation project teams and students has arisen for two reasons: One of my dearest friends, and coworkers; Waleed El-Adrosy, is a very well known person of helping and being dedicated to students in faculty of computers and information systems in Mansoura University, has been pushing me a lot towards preparing material for students in the summer training to enable the students gain the required potential and guidance towards successful graduation projects. The unlimited amount of frustration I go through every year due to the shocks I keep getting from teams and students, not because of lack of knowledge and experience, but because of the deep student resistance to go through the library and internet to search for what graduation projects mean, and how they should be like. In case the student in the final year of her/his college has no idea about the steps s/he shall go through to have a successful graduation project, I; as a teaching assistant in the faculty, can not deny the fact that I have been part of this situation, and can not deny my responsibility, but regarding the fact that they do not even want to make effort to correct the situation, I can not claim any responsibility. This series of articles is supposed to contain: Hints and notes for graduation projects supervisors on how to deal with graduation project students, especially the most tensed ones of them. Hints and notes for students regarding things to do and not to do while dealing with graduation project supervisors. A guide that can be followed to have a successful graduation project. Please note that details presented in this series apply to procedures followed in the Faculty of Computers and Information Systems in Mansoura University. That does not mean theoretically it does not apply anywhere else, but it means that in some cases; that will be mentioned explicitly, you might want to revise the procedures followed in your faculty. Hope You will enjoy the series. For comments, and discussions about published articles, please do not hesitate to contact me personally. Haitham A. El-Ghareeb |
